About the event
Group: Pontiac Township High School Madrigal Singers, Brass Ensemble, and Recorder Consort.
Director: Mr. Joseph Durbin
One of the longest running high school madrigal programs in the State of Illinois. Started in 1966, this is the 59th consecutive year for the PTHS Madrigal program.
This madrigal performance involves an unaccompanied vocal ensemble singing polyphonic music from the Renaissance Period or in the style of Renaissance music. Madrigals are secular songs that are "through-composed", meaning each part of the song has different music. This performance will include a brass ensemble and recorder consort and will feature historical costumes from the period. The madrigal performance is a staple of the holiday season.
